Ice Bath Challenge

Kick off the new year and join us in an ice bath challenge! For the month of January, our tribe will take a daily ice bath to raise awareness on SPG50.

An ice bath has been said to have both physical and mental health benefits. It can improve sleep and mental clarity, increase metabolism, and provide relief from pain and inflammation.

Why January? January is a very special month to us as it is when we celebrate Lincoln’s entrance into this world! He will be turning 3 this year. Because SPG50 is a neurodegenerative condition, birthdays are going to be bittersweet. In a sense, it is so exciting. We enjoy watching him grow and learn new skills, as any parent is likely to say. He overcomes obstacles every single day, and it is incredible to witness. But with that also comes heartbreak. Lincoln will lose those same skills that he has worked so hard for. He will suffer extreme muscle tightness and cramps, eventually taking away his ability to walk entirely and ultimately quadriplegia. He will be another year older, and another year closer to facing this debilitating reality. 5 minutes spent in an ice bath every single day pales in comparison.

Show your support for children affected by SPG50! Even if you only commit to a single ice bath in the month of January. If you are on social media, please share your experience and use the hashtags #lincolnlights #spg50 #coldforacause #iceforacure

Our goal is to raise $5,000 in January to fund ongoing research on SPG50.
